Founded in Rotterdam in 2016, the North Sea String Quartet – George Dumitriu and Pablo Rodríguez (violins), Yanna Pelser (viola) and Thomas van Geelen (cello) – combines classical roots with jazz, folk, world music and collective improvisation. The quartet has played at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Bimhuis and the North Sea Jazz Festival, and has worked with artists such as Trio da Kali and Samora Pinderhughes. Its latest album, “ZONAR” (2026), creates electronic sound worlds using only an acoustic string quartet
