Orkestra e Filharmonisë së Kosovës u themelua pas luftës së fundit në Kosovë, në vitin 2000, me iniciativë të disa muziktarëve të dalluar kosovarë. Fillimisht si ansambël harkor e më vonë si orkestër kamerale, Filharmonia e Kosovës paraqet padyshim vazhdimësinë e punës së ish-Orkestrës Simfonike të Radio Televizionit të Prishtinës (themeluar më 1975), veprimtaria e së cilës u ndërpre me dhunë nga regjimi serb në vitin 1990. Orkestra e Filharmonisë së Kosovës ka realizuar një varg koncertesh simfonike dhe operistike në kuadër të sezoneve të saj koncertale vjetore. Në programet e orkestrës janë prezantuar veprat e kompozitorëve botërorë dhe shqiptarë, të të gjitha orientimeve stilistike. Me Orkestrën e Filharmonisë së Kosovës kanë koncertuar solistë si: Pavel Vernikov – violinë, Kevin Kenner – piano, Inva Mula – soprano, Tedi Papavrami – violinë, Sihana Badivuku – violinë, Ermonela Jaho – soprano, Petrit Çeku – kitarë, Kian Soltani – violonçel, Sergei Nakariakov – trumbetë, Giovanni Bellucci – piano, Andrea Griminelli – flaut, etj., si dhe dirigjentët: Maxim Vengerov, Stefan Vladar, Nayden Todorov, Bahri Çela, Pavle Deshpali, Boian Videnoff, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Antonello Allemandi, Toshio Yanagisawa, Antoine Marguier, etj. Më 3 shtator 2016, Kori dhe Orkestra e Filharmonisë së Kosovës u prezantuan në një koncert të organizuar në nderim të Nënë Terezës në Vatikan, në vigjilje të shenjtërimit të saj. Ndër vite, orkestra është prezantuar në disa skena dhe monumente historike të rëndësishme: Sallën e Madhe të Casino Bern (Bernë, Zvicër, 2025), Qendrën Kulturore Belém (Lisbonë, Portugali, 2023), Katedralen “St. Louis des Invalides” (Paris, Francë, 2019), Bazilikën e Shën Palit (Romë, Itali, 2016), etj. Përveç sezonit të saj të rregullt, orkestra ka realizuar turne në Turqi, Maqedoninë e Veriut, Shqipëri dhe Japoni.

The Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra was established after the last war in Kosovo in 2000, initiated by distinguished Kosovar musicians. Initially founded as a string ensemble and later as a chamber orchestra, the Kosovo Philharmonic undeniably represents the continuation of the work of the former Symphony Orchestra of Radio Television Prishtina (founded in 1975), whose activities were violently shut down by the Serbian regime in 1990. The Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra has performed numerous symphonic and operatic concerts as part of its annual concert seasons. Its programs have featured works by international and Albanian composers of various stylistic orientations. Soloists who have performed with the Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra include: Pavel Vernikov (violin), Kevin Kenner (piano), Inva Mula (soprano), Tedi Papavrami (violin), Sihana Badivuku (violin), Ermonela Jaho (soprano), Petrit Çeku (guitar), Kian Soltani (cello), Sergei Nakariakov (trumpet), Giovanni Bellucci (piano), Andrea Griminelli (flute), among others, as well as conductors such as Maxim Vengerov, Stefan Vladar, Nayden Todorov, Bahri Çela, Pavle Deshpali, Boian Videnoff, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Antonello Allemandi, Toshio Yanagisawa, Antoine Marguier, and others. On September 3, 2016, the Choir and Orchestra of the Kosovo Philharmonic performed at a concert organized in honor of Mother Teresa in Vatican City on the eve of her canonization. Over the years, the Orchestra has performed on several significant stages and historical monuments, including the Grand Hall of Casino Bern (Bern, Switzerland), Belém Cultural Center (Lisbon, Portugal, 2023), the “St. Louis des Invalides” Cathedral (Paris, France, 2019), the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls (Rome, Italy, 2016), among others. Apart from its regular season the orchestra has toured in Turkey, North Macedonia, Albania and Japan.

GREGORY CHARETTE, dirigjent | conductor 

Gregory Charette (1987) është  dirigjent dhe programues i angazhuar thellësisht në promovimin e muzikës bashkëkohore. Dirigjent kryesor i Orkest de Ereprijs (Holandë). Charette është dirigjent i rregullt i Asko | Schönberg Ensemble dhe i Orkestrës së Filharmonisë së Kosovës, si dhe ligjërues dhe dirigjent i Ansamblit Akademik në Konservatorin Mbretëror të Hagës. Në sezonin 2022/23, ai bëri debutimin e tij me Collegium Novum Zürich, me një produksion të plotë të mjuzikëllit “Recital I (for Cathy)” nga Luciano Berio në Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ (një koproduksion i Asko | Schönberg dhe Silbersee), si dhe interpretimit të veprës monumentale “Amériques” të kompozitorit Edgard Varèse me Orkestrën e Konservatorit Mbretëror të Hagës. Në vitin 2013 ai themeloi “Oerknal”, një ansambël muzikor bashkëkohor i dedikuar për të ri-menduar përvojën koncertale. Gregory ka studiuar kompozimin nga Konservatorin e Muzikës Oberlin, ku ka studiuar me Lewis Nielson-in dhe ka marrë pjesë në masterklase me emra si: Helmut Lachenmann, David Lang dhe Rebecca Saunders. Ai u transferua në Holandë për të studiuar dirigjimin orkestral në Konservatorin Mbretëror të Hagës dhe mori titullin master i dirigjimit nga Programi Kombëtar Holandez në Dirigjim Orkestral, një program që i dha mundësinë të punonte me orkestra profesionale holandeze në masterklase, prova dhe performanca. Mësuesit e tij kryesorë ishin Jac van Steen dhe Kenneth Montgomery. Ai ka studiuar me Pierre Boulez-in në Festivalin Luzern 2011 dhe ka shërbyer si dirigjent në Festivale të tilla si John Cage Centennial në Holandë si dhe në Programin e Kompozitorëve të Rinj në Festivalin Aldeburgh, ku ka punuar ngushtë me Oliver Knussen dhe Colin Matthews. Paraqitjet e tij përfshijnë koncerte me Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Residentie Orkest, Orkestrën e Radio-televizionit Shqiptar (Shqipëri), Filharmoninë e Kosovës, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Philharmonie Zuidnederland, Nieuw Ensemble, Ensemble Contrechamps, Britten-Pears Ensemble dhe SONEMUS Ensemble (Bosnje dhe Hercegovinë). Gregory aktualisht jeton në Roterdam.

Gregory Charette (b. 1987 in Los Angeles) is a conductor and programmer deeply committed to the performance and promotion of new music. He is chief conductor of Orkest de Ereprijs (NL). He is a regular guest conductor of the Asko | Schönberg Ensemble and Kosovo Philharmonic and guest lecturer and conductor of the Ensemble Academy at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. In 2022/23 season he made his debut with Collegium Novum Zürich, a fully staged production of Luciano Berio’s Recital I (for Cathy) in Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ (a co-production of Asko | Schönberg and Silbersee), and a performance of Edgard Varèse’s monumental Amériques with the Orchestra of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. In 2013 he founded Oerknal, a contemporary music ensemble dedicated to reimagining and reinvigorating the concert experience. Gregory earned his B.M. in composition from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Lewis Nielson and participated in master-classes with Helmut Lachenmann, David Lang, and Rebecca Saunders. He moved to The Netherlands to study orchestral conducting at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and earned his M.M. from the Dutch National Masters in Orchestral Conducting, a program that gave him the opportunity to work with various professional Dutch orchestras in master-classes, rehearsals, and performances. His primary teachers were Jac van Steen and Kenneth Montgomery. He studied with Pierre Boulez at the 2011 Luzern Festival and has served as conductor in the Holland Festival’s John Cage Centennial as well as the Aldeburgh Festival’s Emerging Composers Program, where he worked closely with Oliver Knussen and Colin Matthews. Engagements have included concerts with Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Residentie Orkest, RTSH Orchestra (Albania), Kosovo Philharmonic, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Philharmonie Zuidnederland, Nieuw Ensemble, Ensemble Contrechamps, Britten-Pears Ensemble and SONEMUS Ensemble (Bosnia). Gregory currently resides in Rotterdam.
