Julien Guillamat studioi violonçel në konservatorët e Montauban dhe Montpellier dhe përfundoi një master në muzikologji në Universitetin Paul Valéry, para se të mbaronte një doktoraturë në kompozicion elektroakustik në Universitetin e Birminghamit me Profesor Jonty Harrison. Si kompozitor në rezidencë për tre vite në Montpellier Occitanie National Opera-Orchestra (OONM), puna e tij eksploron traditën muzikore franceze, timbrin, ngjyrën dhe teksturën e tingullit. Si bashkëthemelues i Birmingham Laptop Ensemble (BiLE), ai ka bashkëpunuar me Nathalie Stutzmann, Asko|Schönberg, Welsh National Opera dhe OONM, duke fituar çmime si ai i kompozimit në Summer Festival of Music dhe duke qenë finalist në METAMORPHOSES International Composition Competition.
Ai themeloi KLANG! acousmonium dhe drejton Maison des Arts Sonores në Montpellier, duke krijuar festivalin elektroakustik KLANG!. Eshtë ligjërues ne kompozicion në Royal Conservatoire, Academy of Arts në Mons (Belgjikë), Julien është gjithashtu themelues i Europa Meta-Orchestra dhe ELEM, duke bashkëpunuar gjerësisht me artistë dhe ansamble ndërkombëtare.

Julien Guillamat studied cello at the conservatoires of Montauban and Montpellier and earned a Master’s in musicology at Paul Valéry University, before completing a PhD in electroacoustic composition at the University of Birmingham with Professor Jonty Harrison.
A former three-year composer-in-residence at the Montpellier Occitanie National Opera-Orchestra (OONM), his work explores French musical tradition, timbre, color, and sound texture. Co-founder of the Birmingham Laptop Ensemble (BiLE), he has collaborated with Nathalie Stutzmann, Asko|Schönberg, Welsh National Opera, and OONM, winning prizes including the Summer Festival of Music composition award and finalist in the METAMORPHOSES International Composition Competition.
He founded the KLANG! acousmonium and directs Maison des Arts Sonores in Montpellier, creating the electroacoustic festival KLANG!. He teaches composition at the Royal Conservatoire, Academy of Arts in Mons (Belgium), is an active member of Musiques & Recherches, and has received commissions from The Circles of Influence, Wellcome Trust, the French Ministry of Education, LVMH, OONM, and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts. Julien is also founder of the Europa Meta-Orchestra and ELEM, collaborating widely with international artists and ensembles.
